- Trinity suffered its worst loss of the weekend to open the third
day of action at the Millsaps College Classic, falling 8-0 to hosting
Millsaps on Sunday. Trinity (3-14) managed
just four hits in the loss, and fell behind 5-0 after just two innings
on defense. In addition to the five-run second, Millsaps scored
once in the fifth and twice in the sixth to set up the eight-run rule
after the bottom of the sixth.
Millsaps is in the SCAC East Division, meaning
that the game does not count in the conference standings.
Christina Carni was 2-3 in the game, accounting
for half of Trinity's hits in the game. Jamie Williams also nabbed
a hit for the Tigers, as did first-year outfielder Teresa Greppi.
Williams had a two-out double in the third for Trinity's only extra-base
hit.
Helen Thompson was charged with the loss, giving
up nine hits and striking out three batters in the game.
Trinity will face LaGrange College this afternoon
to finish off the three-day tournament. The Tigers will return
home next weekend against Rhodes College, opening up SCAC play. |
