| Danville, Kentucky-
The Tiger softball team was eliminated from the SCAC Championships
Tournament as Centre College hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of
the seventh to win 1-0 on Saturday afternoon.
Trinity (19-19) and tournament hosts Centre battled
through six scoreless innings in an elimination game, before Centre's
Lindsey Willett homered to left-center with one out in the bottom of the
seventh to end the game.
The Tigers put two runners on with nobody out in
the top of the seventh inning, but the offense was not able to bring a
run across that could have possibly changed the final outcome.
Trinity's Kate Wright (12-2) was the game's
hard-luck loser, striking out four and giving up just one run on seven
hits in the second complete game of the weekend for the junior.
Wright also went 2-2 at the plate for the Tigers.
Trinity had six hits in the game, with Lee Smith
going 2-4 for the Tigers. Teresa Greppi was 1-3 in the game,
including a single in the seventh to keep the inning going.
As a team, the Tigers did set new school records
with 12 home runs and 59 doubles total for the year. |
