- The Tiger softball team had to settle for a split of today's games
at the Easton Classic after losing to hosting UT-Tyler by a final of 9-1
on Saturday afternoon. Trinity (1-3) fell
behind early as UT-Tyler cracked a two-run homer in the first inning.
The Tigers answered with its own run in the bottom of the inning, but
the team could muster no more runs.
Karen Fisher (0-1) took the loss, giving up three
runs - two earned - on four hits. Fisher struck out two batters in
her four innings of work, walking just one.
Jamie Williams and Michelle Gossein each went 2-3
for the Tigers, while Gossein hit an RBI double to score Kate Wright for
the team's only run. Williams and Gossein also had two hits
earlier today in a win over Mary Hardin-Baylor.
Trinity will face UT-Dallas and East Texas Baptist
tomorrow afternoon, finishing off its part in the two-day tournament.
The Tigers open up the home portion of the schedule with a doubleheader
on March 1, taking on Mary Hardin-Baylor. Prior to that, though,
Trinity will travel to play Schreiner in a Thursday evening
doubleheader. |
