Trinity Beaten by East Texas Baptist in Tournament Opener

Longview, Texas - Trinity's softball team opened up its part in the LeTourneau Tournament with a 13-0 loss to East Texas Baptist University on Friday afternoon.

Trinity (2-7) managed just three hits in the game, while ETBU scored all 13 runs in the first three innings to jump out to an early lead.

East Texas Baptist opened the game with a three-run first inning, followed by a seven-run second that featured five hits.  A three-run homer in the third accounted for the final runs of the game.

Caitlin Richards went 2-2 in the game, accounting for two of Trinity's three hits.  Jamie Williams was 1-2 for the Tigers.

Christina Carni and Karen MacPherson had their eight-game hitting streaks snapped in the game, as each player failed to hit safely.

Trinity will take on Schreiner University later tonight to finish off the opening day of action.  The Tigers lost 6-3 and 5-3 to Schreiner earlier this season.
