Trinity's softball team secured its third straight Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship with a 2-0 win over Centre College on Sunday afternoon at Trinity University.  Erin Mulvey pitched her third straight shutout for the Tigers, giving up one hit and striking out 13 batters in the game.

Centre Blanks DePauw to Advance to SCAC Championship Game Tomorrow
Centre College will advance to the 2007 SCAC Championship game against hosting Trinity University tomorrow after pulling off a 3-0 shutout upset of DePauw University on Saturday evening.  DePauw is eliminated from the tournament, while Centre and Trinity will decide the conference championship tomorrow at 11:00 a.m.

Centre Defeats Hendrix to Advance at SCAC Tournament on Saturday
Centre jumped out to a big early lead against Hendrix and never really looked back in an 8-3 win to advance to the final game of the day against DePauw University.  Hendrix is eliminated from the tournament with the loss, but Centre and DePauw will now play for the chance to face Trinity tomorrow for the SCAC Championship at 11:00 a.m.

Trinity Tops DePauw in Showdown of Top Seeds to Advance to Title Game
Trinity broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the sixth with an RBI single to take a 1-0 win over DePauw University on Saturday afternoon.  Trinity advances to the SCAC Championship game tomorrow against either DePauw, Centre, or Hendrix.  DePauw will face the winner of the next game (Hendrix and Centre), with the winner of the DePauw game moving on to the finals tomorrow.

Centre Squeezes Home Two Runs in the Seventh to Shock Rhodes
Down 3-2 against Rhodes in the bottom of the seventh in an elimination game, Centre College was down to its final three outs at the SCAC Championships on Saturday afternoon.  The Colonels put a pair of runners on, then scored on consecutive squeeze plays to win the game and advance to play Hendrix later this afternoon.  Rhodes is eliminated from the tournament with the loss.

Hendrix Hangs on For Wild Win in First Elimination Game of the Tournament
Hendrix College was able to hang on for a wild 12-11 win over Millsaps College to open the 2007 SCAC Championships on Saturday morning.  Millsaps had runners on the corners with two outs in the bottom of the seventh, but fell one run short of extending the game.  Hendrix advances to play the winner of Rhodes and Centre (12:30 p.m. start), while Millsaps is eliminated from tournament play.

DePauw, the East Division Champion, defeated # 3 Centre 6-2 to finish off day one of the SCAC Softball Championships at Trinity University.  DePauw will face West Division Champs Trinity University at 2:00 p.m. tomorrow, while Centre takes on Rhodes at noon.

Trinity Scores Late to Edge Millsaps in the Third Game of the SCAC Championships
Trinity and Millsaps played a scoreless game for almost six full innings on Friday evening at the SCAC Championships, but Trinity managed a run with two outs in the bottom of the sixth to take a 1-0 win.  Trinity will face the winner of tonight's Centre and DePauw game, while Millsaps will take on Hendrix at 10:00 a.m. tomorrow morning.

Centre Holds on to Defeat Hendrix in Game Two of Softball Championships
For the second time in as many games, the # 3 seed defeated the # 2 seed as Centre College escaped a late rally to beat Hendrix College 4-3 on Friday afternoon.  Centre advances to take on SCAC East Division Champions DePauw University later this evening.  Hendrix will face an opponent to be determined at 10:00 a.m. tomorrow.

Millsaps Defeats Rhodes to Open 2007 SCAC Softball Championships
Millsaps College, the third seed in the SCAC West Division, defeated # 2 seed Rhodes College 8-4 to open the SCAC Championships Tournament on Friday afternoon at Trinity University.  Millsaps will face hosting Trinity at 4:00 p.m. this afternoon.  Rhodes will play at noon tomorrow against an opponent to be determined.

Trinity's Mulvey Becomes SCAC's All-Time Strikeouts Leader
Erin Mulvey of Trinity University struck out 10 batters - including two in the final inning - to secure a 3-2 win in eight innings over Millsaps College on Saturday. Her first strikeout of the eighth inning was the 400th of her career, making her the SCAC's all-time strikeout leader.
