NCAA Competitors Walstad and Cook Highlight Trinity's All-SCAC Performers

San Antonio - Trinity's men's and women's swimming & diving teams had 34 combined All-SCAC honorees at the 2007 SCAC Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving Championships in March.

The men's team won five events and had 14 overall All-SCAC performers, while the women won seven events and finished with 20 total All-SCAC performances.

Lauren Walstad won both the one-meter and three-meter diving competitions to win the SCAC Diver of the Year award for the second straight season.  Walstad helped lead the Tiger team to its fourth consecutive team title at the SCAC Championships, and also qualified for the NCAA Championships.

Dan Petersen was the men's top individual performer, winning both the 100 backstroke and 200 individual medley.  Petersen was also a key member of three All-SCAC relay teams.

Ryan Cook qualified for the NCAA Championships, winning the one-meter diving event and finishing second on the three-meter board.

Lindsay Weigley, last year's SCAC Swimmer of the Year, won the 500 and 1650 freestyle races, finishing second in the 200 free.  Weigley also served on two SCAC Championship relay teams, helping the Tiger women win the 400 and 800 freestyle relays.

Trinity's teams also had their best-ever overall performances in diving.  In addition to Walstad and Cook, three other divers earned All-SCAC honors.  Travis Mills finished third on the three-meter board to earn distinction on the men's side.  For the women, Lindsay Martin and Jennifer Parker were both All-SCAC in both women's diving events.  Martin finished second only to Walstad in the one-meter and three-meter, while Parker finished third in both competitions.

Will Basinger won the 200 butterfly for the men, while Leta Gatton secured the 200 freestyle title on the women's side.  Evan O'Dea also won the 500 freestyle, and anchored three All-SCAC relay teams.

Renee Ulrich was second in the 200 backstroke and third in the 100 backstroke, then led off the top 800 freestyle relay team.  She also led off the third place 400 medley relay team for the Tiger women.  Maria Lopez pulled off a similar feat by finishing second in the 400 IM and third in the 200 IM, as well as helping the Tigers to a win in the 800 freestyle relay.

Kyle Boe and Graham Mullings earned distinction individually and as members of two relay teams.  Boe was second in the 200 IM and was a part of both the 400 and 800 freestyle relay teams.  Mullings teamed with Boe on both relays, and also finished third in the 100 freestyle.

Alison Gizinski was second in the 100 breaststroke, then helped on both the 200 and 400 freestyle relay - winning the 400 relay.  Lauren Gann also teamed with Gizinski to help earn SCAC honors in both of those relays, while Sonya Karbach anchored the second-place 200 freestyle relay team.

Spencer Hill and Grant Quimby finished the relay team in the 400 medley relay, while Hill also finished 2nd in the 200 backstroke and third in the 100 backstroke.

Annia Parra was third in the 200 breaststroke and also was the second leg of the 400 medley relay team that finished third.  Lauren Clements was also on that relay team to earn SCAC honors.
