San Antonio - The Trinity
Diving Invitational was won by the University of Wyoming on Friday
afternoon, as the visiting school captured all four diving events.
Trinity was led by All-American
Ryan Cook and Lauren Walstad. Cook was third in both the 1-meter
and 3-meter diving events. Walstad was fifth on the 3-meter board
and seventh on the 1-meter board. First-year Lindsay Martin was
sixth in the 1-meter.
Walstad was the 2006 SCAC Diver
of the Year, while Cook - who has earned All-American honors in each of
his first two collegiate seasons - earned the SCAC's top award as a
first-year in 2005.
Wyoming's John Lynch won both
the 1-meter and 3-meter boards on the men's side, while two Cowgirls
took the women's events. Brittany Wainwright won the 3-meter
competition, while Saara Haapanen took the 1-meter crown. Lynch's
wins were even more special in this event, as the Wyoming senior is from
San Antonio, and attended high school at Health Careers.
Trinity will next host the Tiger
Swimming & Diving Invitational Jan. 19-20.
