Trinity's Emily Loeffler broke the school steeplechase record to
highlight Trinity's track & field teams at the North Central Last Chance
Meet on Saturday.
Loeffler bested the old record by
nearly 11 seconds in the meet, finishing in a time of 10:59.9 in the
race. The previous record of 11:10.14 was set by Maeve Goetz at
the Whataburger Invitational in 2004. Prior to Saturday,
Loeffler's best time of the 2006 season was 11:37.61 at the
season-opening Trinity University Invitational in March.
Brad Robinson and Jeremy Daum
also performed well in the 5,000 meter run. Robinson ran his
second-best time of the season, while Daum had a season-best performance
in the event.

Trinity will have next weekend
off, and will then travel to the NCAA Championships Meet. Christyn
Schumann has automatically qualified for the meet in the high jump,
while six other individuals have also qualified provisionally. The
seven qualifiers are a school record for one season.
