Loeffler Breaks Steeplechase Record at Last Chance Meet

Naperville, Illinois - Trinity's Emily Loeffler broke the school steeplechase record to highlight Trinity's track & field teams at the North Central Last Chance Meet on Saturday.

Loeffler bested the old record by nearly 11 seconds in the meet, finishing in a time of 10:59.9 in the race.  The previous record of 11:10.14 was set by Maeve Goetz at the Whataburger Invitational in 2004.  Prior to Saturday, Loeffler's best time of the 2006 season was 11:37.61 at the season-opening Trinity University Invitational in March.

Brad Robinson and Jeremy Daum also performed well in the 5,000 meter run.  Robinson ran his second-best time of the season, while Daum had a season-best performance in the event.

Trinity will have next weekend off, and will then travel to the NCAA Championships Meet.  Christyn Schumann has automatically qualified for the meet in the high jump, while six other individuals have also qualified provisionally.  The seven qualifiers are a school record for one season.

More information regarding the seven potential qualifiers will be available this week.
