Houston, Texas -
Trinity's Amy Stoy broke two school records at the Houston Invitational,
as the track & field teams head towards the final meets of the regular
season.
Stoy, who was instrumental in
leading the Tigers to the SCAC Championship last weekend, broke school
records in both the 100 and 200 meter dash.
Stoy broke both records earlier
this season, beating out records that were at least nine years old.
She ran the 100 in 12.39 to edge her previous mark of 12.42, and then
raced to a 25.45 finish in the 200 - besting her 25.61 time just last
weekend at the conference meet.
Also in the meet was senior and
SCAC Female Athlete of the Year Stephanie Hankins. Hankins turned
in the fourth-best triple jump in school history, reaching 37'03.00" in
the meet. It was the second-longest jump of the year for Hankins,
who broke her own school record at SCAC last weekend.
Trinity continues to work towards
the season-ending NCAA Championships Meet on May 26. The Tigers
have provisionally qualified in numerous events, and will be trying to
improve in the standings in the coming weeks. Christyn Schumann,
the two-time defending national high jump champion, has automatically
qualified for the event. |
