Tigers Open Outdoor Season With Stellar Home Debut

San Antonio – The Tiger men's and women's teams continued to be a force to be reckoned with at track and field meets with scholarship schools.

This was the case Friday at the Tiger Relays, held at E.M. Stevens Stadium. The competing teams were Trinity, the University of the Incarnate Word, UTSA and Texas State.

All-American Chris Baer provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division III men’s javelin, with a winning toss of 59.46 meters.

Justin Campbell captured the men’s discus, with a performance of 45.79 meters.

Krissy Ford ran her fasted time as a collegian to win the women’s 800 meters, clocking in at 2 minutes, 21.77 seconds.

Corey Callahan just missed the school record in the women’s long jump, finishing as runner-up with a mark of 17 feet, 5.25 inches.

The Tigers will compete March 21 at the Dr. Pepper Invitational at Baylor University in Waco, Texas. Track and field fans are reminded the Tiger Alumni Classic will be held April 9.
