San Antonio
– The Tiger men's and women's teams
continued to be a force to be reckoned with at track and field meets
with scholarship schools.
This was the case
Friday at the Tiger Relays, held at E.M. Stevens Stadium. The competing
teams were Trinity, the University of the Incarnate Word, UTSA and Texas
State.
All-American Chris
Baer provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division III men’s javelin,
with a winning toss of 59.46 meters.
Justin Campbell
captured the men’s discus, with a performance of 45.79 meters.
Krissy Ford ran
her fasted time as a collegian to win the women’s 800 meters, clocking
in at 2 minutes, 21.77 seconds.
Corey Callahan
just missed the school record in the women’s long jump, finishing as
runner-up with a mark of 17 feet, 5.25 inches.
The Tigers will
compete March 21 at the Dr. Pepper Invitational at Baylor University in
Waco, Texas. Track and field fans are reminded the Tiger Alumni Classic
will be held April 9.
