San Antonio - After
wrapping up the team's 13th overall - and ninth consecutive - Southern
Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship, four Trinity volleyball
players have earned All-Region honors.
The American Volleyball
Coaches Association All-South Region First Team featured Sara Buros,
Elisabeth Stuart, and Tiffany Winkler. Senior Jessie Dureell
earned honorable mention.
Dureell leads the team with a
hitting percentage of .377 this season, which would be a new school
record if she continues her strong play. She is also second on the
team with 103 blocks this year, averaging 1.02 blocks/game.
Stuart has recorded 919
assists this season, and has led the team to a hitting percentage of
.294 this season. Stuart is also averaging nearly 2.25 digs/game,
and is also second on the team with 64 aces this year.
Winkler came on strong late to
finish the regular season with a hitting percentage of .308, and take
over the team lead with 344 kills. She is also averaging over
three kills/game - one of only three players to do so this season.
Buros, a 2005 All-Region
selection, leads the team with 3.43 kills/game and is hitting .345 this
season. She is also averaging 3.19 digs/game, and is second on the
team in both total kills and total digs - as well as hitting percentage.
Buros has also recorded 45 service aces this year (0.44/game) and 80
blocks (0.78/game).
Trinity (32-6) has also
qualified for the NCAA playoffs for the 15th straight season, and will
host this year's NCAA South Region Championships. Austin College,
Averett University, Emory University, Hardin-Simmons University, and
Southwestern University will join the Tigers for the three-day,
single-elimination event that will begin Thursday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. |
