San Antonio - Trinity's
volleyball team will travel to Austin College for the NCAA South Region
tournament this weekend in Sherman, Texas.
Trinity (34-2) earned the
SCAC's automatic bid to the postseason by winning the SCAC Tournament in
thrilling fashion last weekend.
After beating Millsaps and
DePauw 3-0 to start things off, the Tigers defeated hosting Austin
College 3-2 after trailing 0-2 early in the match. Trinity rallied
for three straight wins to take the victory, securing the team's 10th
straight conference title.
Now Trinity will be back at
Austin College for the playoffs, earning a first round bye. The
Tigers will face either Southwestern or Washington & Lee in the
semifinals on Friday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. The winner advances to
the championship on Saturday.
Trinity senior All-American
Sara Buros was named the SCAC Tournament MVP last weekend, while Leslie
Schornack and Caroline Keener also earned All-Tournament honors.
Trinity is ranked third
nationally by the AVCA, and the team is unbeaten against Division III
teams this season.
Head Coach Julie Jenkins, in
her 23rd season at the helm of the Tiger volleyball program, has won
over 600 matches in her career. She has led the team to the NCAA
Semifinals twice (1999, 2002), and has been in the NCAA Quarterfinals
two more times (2001, 2006) in her career. |
