Antonio - Southwestern's volleyball team scored a dramatic 3-2 win
over Trinity University in the NCAA South Regional Semifinals on Friday
night.
Trinity
(31-10) lost the first set 18-25, then won 25-22 and 28-26 to take a 2-1
lead. Southwestern (36-4) was up to the challenge, though, winning
25-21 and 15-10 in the final two sets to clinch the victory.
Southwestern was led by 15 kills each for Danielle Bochat and Audra
Gentry. Both players finished with double-doubles by also
collecting 19 digs for the Pirates. Sam Lingamfelter had a
team-best 20 digs for Southwestern, while Christina Nicholls added 50
assists and 15 digs.
Trinity's
Megan Dudley and Caroline Keener both posted double-doubles in the
match. While Dudley had 14 kills and 24 digs, Keener finished with
27 assists and 19 digs. Caiti Troyer also collected 21 assists to
go with a pair of service aces, while Megan Guest led all players with
31 digs. Aly Hazelwood recorded 11 kills for the Tigers as well.
Southwestern will face Emory in the regional championship tomorrow at
7:00 p.m. |
