Trinity’s fifth-ranked
volleyball team swept through four matches in SCAC play this weekend,
and finished 4-1 for the week.
The Tigers opened the weekend
with a match at second-ranked Emory, then headed to nearby Oglethorpe to
continue conference action.
Trinity took over sole
possession of first place as a result, defeating DePauw and Oglethorpe
on Saturday, then downing Centre and Austin College on Sunday.
After having a home tournament
cancelled by weather concerns due to Hurricane Ike earlier this month,
Trinity added a weekend of action on the road. The Tigers will travel
to Hiram College in Hiram, Ohio, to play four neutral matches on Friday
and Saturday. Trinity will take on Mount Union College and Hiram
College on Friday, followed by a Saturday afternoon match with
Washington & Jefferson.
Saturday evening will be the
biggest matchup of the weekend, with fifth-ranked Trinity squaring off
against seventh-ranked Wittenberg. The two teams last met in the 2006
NCAA Quarterfinals, won by Wittenberg.
Amy Mittelstaedt was named the
SCAC Co-Player of the Week for her efforts last weekend. She is the
first Trinity player to earn the honor this season. Click for the news
