Trinity's fifth-ranked
volleyball team lost a 3-1 decision to No. 2 Emory University last
night. Since the 1997, the two teams have seven wins each in this
series. Emory has won the last two meetings, though.
Amy Mittelstaedt led the team
with 14 kills, while Caroline Keener finished with 37 assists.
Five different players had an ace to tie for the team lead.
Ginger Haley had eight kills and
a team-best six blocks, while Alexis Edwards and Megan Guest tied for
the team lead with 15 digs. Keener and Megan Dudley also had 14
digs.
Last weekend at the SCAC
West-Central, Alexis Edwards finished with a
double-double in three of the four matches, while Aly Hazelwood tallied
24 total blocks for an average of 1.85 blocks/game.
Caroline Keener totaled 131 assists and Megan Guest recorded six service
aces.
Megan Dudley and Amy
Mittelstaedt both passed 600 career kills over the weekend, moving into
the top 20 in school history. Guest moved quite a bit closer to 1,000
career digs, finishing with 48 this past weekend to give her 986 in her
career. Her six aces also move her into the top 10 for a career in that
category.
Hazelwood’s block total for last
weekend put her into a tie with current assistant coach Micaeli Smith
with 267 in a career. Her four blocks last night pushed her past
Coach Smith, and needs one more this weekend to move into 12th place
all-time.
