Trinity Opens Home Tournament With Sweep

 

San Antonio - The Tiger volleyball team opened up its Trinity River City Classic with a 3-0 sweep over Concordia (TX) University on Friday afternoon.

Trinity (5-1) won 30-17, 30-23, and 30-23 to open play at the two-day tournament that features five total teams.  Fifteen members of the Tiger team saw action in the match.

Amy Mittelstaedt led the team with a solid double-double, totaling a team-best 13 kills and recording 13 digs.  She also had just one error in 18 attempts, hitting .667 for the match, and earning a spot in the top 20 in school single match history.

First-year Caiti Troyer led the Tigers with 27 assists, while Caroline Keener tallied 11 assists in just one game of action.  Troyer also added seven digs in the match.

Megan Dudley finished with 10 kills, while Sara Buros led the team with 14 digs to go with two blocks.  Ginger Haley's three blocks were tops on the Trinity team, while Megan Guest recorded four aces to lead the way.

Trinity faces No. 22 Pacific Lutheran later this evening.
