Tigers Open SCAC Divisional With Sweep

 

San Antonio - Trinity's volleyball team won its opening match at the SCAC East-West Divisional on Friday afternoon, sweeping University of the South-Sewanee 3-0.

Trinity (23-1, 12-0) won 30-9, 30-6, and 30-6 in the match, securing a milestone win for Head Coach Julie Jenkins.  Jenkins, who won her 600th career match last season, led the Tigers to her 600th win at Trinity on Friday.

Megan Dudley led the team with 10 kills and a .600 hitting percentage, while Tayler Malloy finished with seven kills in just nine attacks - recording zero errors for a .778 hitting percentage.  Malloy also led the team with nine digs in the match.

Caiti Troyer had 21 assists to lead the team, also collecting five kills and five digs to go with a pair of service aces.  Aly Hazelwood finished with a team-best four blocks.

Three players led the Tigers with four service aces in the match.  Ginger Haley had four aces and three kills, Alexis Edwards finished with four aces and six digs, and Malloy also added four aces to her standout performance.

Trinity takes on Oglethorpe later this evening to finish the opening day of the tournament, then will face DePauw and Colorado College in tomorrow's action.
