Trinity's volleyball team held on for a victory in a thrilling five-set
match against Tarleton State University on Saturday evening.
Trinity (3-0) lost the first
game 15-30, then rallied with wins in games two (30-28) and three
(30-24). Tarleton was able to force a fifth game with a 30-24 win
in the fourth.
In the fifth, Tarleton started
off strong, but Trinity finished strong for the 15-13 win.
Caroline Keener finished with
45 assists to give her 78 in two matches today. She also added
four blocks, four digs, and four kills for the Tigers.
Megan Dudley led three players
with double figures in kills, tallying 18 with just three errors.
She also finished with a hitting percentage of .333 in the match.
Micaeli Smith finished with 15
kills and five blocks, while Leslie Schornack had 10 kills and six
blocks. Schornack was one of four players to record a service ace
for Trinity - including Sara Buros, Joni Jacobi, and Katelyn Kershner.
Aly Hazelwood had nine blocks
to lead the Tigers, and Buros had a team-best 13 digs. Libero
Megan Guest finished with 11 digs in the match.
Trinity will take on Texas
A&M-Kingsville and co-hosts Incarnate Word to conclude the tournament
tomorrow. |
