Tigers Rebound With Win Over Cardinals

San Antonio - Trinity's volleyball team won the battle of hosting schools at the Alamo City Classic, defeating the University of Incarnate Word 3-0 on Sunday afternoon.

Trinity (4-1) suffered its first loss of the young season earlier today against A&M-Kingsville, but came back with a strong showing against UIW this afternoon.  The Tigers finished 3-1 in the two-day tournament, facing all Division II teams.

Trinity won 30-16, 30-21, and 30-24 in a very balanced attack by the entire team.

Three players tied for the team lead with six kills, while five players finished with at least five digs.

Amy Mittelstaedt, Sara Buros, and Micaeli Smith all had six kills - Mittelstaedt did so in just seven attacks.  Buros also finished with eight digs and three blocks in the match.

Megan Guest led the team with nine digs, while Caroline Keener had a team-best 37 assists.  Leslie Schornack had four blocks to lead the Tigers.

Trinity will host the River City Classic next weekend, welcoming Concordia (TX), Cortland State, Pacific Lutheran, and Hardin-Simmons for the two-day event.
