The sixth-ranked Tiger volleyball team opened one of its toughest
tournaments of the year with a 3-1 win over No. 12 Cal State-East Bay on
Friday afternoon.
Trinity (3-2) won 25-21,
19-25, 25-23, and 25-17 to hand East Bay (4-1) its first loss of the
season. The Tigers hit over .300 in each of the final two games en
route to victory.
Megan Dudley led the team with
17 kills, hitting a blistering .471 (one error in 34 attacks) for the
match. Dudley also added a team-best two aces and six digs.
Megan Guest finished with 16
digs to lead the team, while Caroline Keener recorded Trinity's only
double-double of the match - tallying 42 assists and 10 digs.
Ginger Haley and Tayler Malloy
finished with seven blocks each to lead the Tiger defense at the net,
and the Trinity team finished with 11 total blocks to help hold East Bay
to a .200 hitting percentage.
Trinity will face fifth-ranked
La Verne later tonight. |
