The Tiger volleyball team finished the opening day of the SCAC
Central-West Tournament with a 3-0 win over Hendrix College on Friday.
Trinity (10-1, 2-0) won 30-17,
30-15, and 30-16 for the team's second sweep of the day.
First-year Alexis Edwards led
the team with 11 kills on Friday, while Caroline Keener paced the Tiger
attack with 20 assists and one service ace. Katelyn Kershner
recorded the only other ace of the match for Trinity.
Joni Jacobi tallied 10 digs to
lead the Trinity defensive effort, while Leslie Schornack also
contributed three blocks.
Trinity will face Rhodes and
Austin tomorrow to conclude the tournament. Rhodes, which was
ranked in the top 25 in the preseason, is currently just outside of the
national rankings. Austin moved up to 12th in the most recent
poll. The Tigers have been steady at seventh nationally since the
