- The Tiger volleyball team was eliminated
from the NCAA Regional Tournament in a 3-2 loss to Southwestern
University on Friday night.
Trinity (31-10) dropped the
first game 18-25, but then stormed back with a 25-22 win in the second
and a 28-26 victory in the third. Southwestern rallied to tie it
with a 25-21 win in the fourth, then held on for a 15-10 win in the
fifth after jumping out to a big lead early.
Megan Dudley and Caroline
Keener both finished with double-doubles to lead the Tigers.
Dudley had a team-best 14 kills to go with 24 digs and three blocks,
while Keener led the team with 27 assists and 19 digs.
Caiti Troyer tallied 21
assists and tied for the team lead with two service aces. Megan
Guest also had a pair of aces to go with her team-high 31 digs.
Ginger Haley scored 11 blocks to go with six kills, and Amy Mittelstaedt
contributed nine kills and 12 digs.
Southwestern advances to face
Emory University in tomorrow's NCAA Regional Final, with the winner of
that match advancing to the NCAA Quarterfinals.
Trinity's season ends after
winning the team's 11th consecutive SCAC crown and advancing to the NCAA
Playoffs for the 17th straight season. |
