Tacoma, Washington -
Trinity and La Verne, two teams ranked in the top 10 of Division III,
squared off at the Puget Sound Invitational on Friday night, with
fifth-ranked La Verne winning 3-1 over No. 6 Trinity.
Trinity (3-3) was held to just
a .203 hitting percentage in the match, despite coming out with a .382
percentage in game one. La Verne won 25-23, 15-25, 25-17, and
25-18.
Amy Mittelstaedt and Megan
Dudley tied for the team lead with 12 kills, while Dudley added 11 digs
to post her fourth double-double of the season.
Aly Hazelwood finished with 11
kills and a team-best .304 hitting percentage, while also tying Megan
Guest for the team lead in service aces. Guest and Hazelwood
finished with three aces each, while Guest also led Trinity with 17
digs.
Ginger Haley recorded a
team-best three blocks, while Caroline Keener finished with 34 assists
and 13 digs. Alexis Edwards also added 12 digs for the Tigers.
Trinity will face hosting
Puget Sound tomorrow, which is ranked seventh nationally. The
Tigers finish off the tough four-match road weekend with the University
of Redlands. |
