Trinity Downs Whittier to Match Best Start

 

San Antonio - The Tiger volleyball team matched its best start to the season with a 3-0 win over Whittier (CA) College on Thursday evening.

Trinity now stands 22-1 on the year, tying the school record for the best record to start off the year.  The Tigers went 22-1 to open the 1999 season.

The Tigers won 30-12, 30-19, and 30-15 in this match, which will be followed by this weekend's SCAC East-West Tournament that opens tomorrow.

Alexis Edwards led the Tigers with 12 kills and a .458 hitting percentage in the match, also collecting 11 digs to record a double-double.

Caiti Troyer finished with 30 assists, five digs, and six kills.  Emily Hilliard led the way with 14 digs, followed closely by Adriene Busch's 13 digs in the match. 

Megan Guest led the way with an impressive seven service aces, while Megan Dudley had three blocks for a team high.

Trinity will face Sewanee and Oglethorpe at the SCAC Divisional tomorrow, followed by Saturday matches against DePauw and Colorado College.
