Trinity Women's Basketball @ Birmingham-Southern

The Tiger women’s basketball team defeated Southwestern University 57-48 on the road on Friday night, which was Trinity’s only game of the week and kept the Tigers atop the SCAC West Division standings.

Danielle Hubenak led Trinity with 16 points and four assists in the game, while Abby Dietert added 12 points.  Krista Prato Matthews recorded another double-double – her 12th in 13 games this season – with 11 points and 10 rebounds.  Prato Matthews and Hubenak hit 6-6 from the foul line to seal the win, following  late comeback attempt by Southwestern.

Prato Matthews continues to move closer to fifth place in school history in career scoring, needing just 25 more points to crack into the top five.  She is also 16 rebounds away from reaching 900 in her career, and five away from her 200th career block.

Prato Matthews is already the SCAC's leading rebounder with her 884 boards so far in her career with Trinity.  She is only the fourth player in SCAC history to reach 800 or more career rebounds.

Hubenak is now 16th in Trinity history in career assists, despite playing in just her second season with the Tigers.

Trinity faces Birmingham-Southern and Rhodes this weekend, continuing action in the SCAC.  Against Birmingham-Southern last year, Prato Matthews and Alexandra Blake finished with 14 points each in an 81-64 loss.
