Women's Basketball
Game Notes - Jan. 31

Trinity Women's Basketball @ Centre

Trinity lost for only the second time in its last eight games on Friday night at DePauw, falling 57-77 in SCAC play.

Ali Marzella and Danielle Hubenak led the team with 13 points each, while Abby Dietert added 12 points for the Tigers.  Alexandra Blake and Lindsay Hovland pulled down nine rebounds each.  Hovland also swatted away a career-best four blocks in the game.

Hubenak moved into eighth on Trinity's list for single season assists with 94.  She is on the verge of becoming only the fifth player ever to record 100 or more assists in a season.

Marzella is also tied for 20th in single season assists at Trinity, having recorded her 77th of the year last night at DePauw.  Marzella is tied with Holly Barrett (1997-98), but can pass four others with just seven more assists.  Twice this season, Marzella has recorded 10 or more assists in a single game.

Hubenak is also 14th in school history for career assists, despite playing in just her second season with the Tigers.  With four more assists, she will pass both Christie Gladchuk (1999-2003) and Hailie Bricker (1993-97) on the all-time list.  She may even reach 200 career assists this season, becoming just the 10th player at Trinity to do so.

Prato Matthews is now just one point away from 1,300 in her career and could move up as high as third on Trinity’s all-time scoring list.  She is already fewer than 40 rebounds from breaking Trinity’s career record, which was set by Trinity Hall of Famer Terri Hailey from 1977-81.  Additionally, Prato Matthews became the second player in SCAC history to record 200 or more blocks, collecting six on Sunday to push her past the milestone.

Trinity travels to DePauw and Centre this weekend to continue its schedule against teams in the SCAC East Division.  Heading into the weekend, the Tigers lead the SCAC West Division with a 7-1 record.

The Tigers defeated Centre 78-44 at home last season, with Danielle Hubenak narrowly missing a triple-double.  She finished with nine points, eight rebounds, and seven assists, despite playing just 21 minutes.
