Trinity's women's basketball team suffered a 54-76 loss at 10th-ranked
DePauw University in Friday night Southern Collegiate Athletic
Conference action.
Trinity (9-6, 3-3) trailed 23-40
at the half, managing just nine first half field goals, and shooting
less than 30% from the field in both periods.
Trinity never led in the game,
only tying it at 2-2 in the opening minutes, and DePauw led by as many
as 22 points in the first half. Trinity got no closer than 15
points in the second half, as DePauw ran away with the victory.
Trinity was led by 16 points
from Lauren Andrews. Andrews hit 6-12 from the field and 4-5 free
throw attempts for the Tigers.
Martha King and Meghan Scholbe
added eight points each for Trinity, and Carlee Culver led the team with
eight rebounds off the bench. Kate Dawson chipped in with four
points and a game-high four steals.
Kaitlin McGonigal led all
scorers with 17 points off the bench for DePauw, hitting 6-11 shots and
adding eight rebounds. Liz Bondi finished with 12 points and nine
boards, while Gretchen Haehl hit 6-6 free throws on her way to 10
points. Suzy Doughty finished with nine points and nine assists in
20 minutes of action.
Trinity travels to Centre
College to finish off the SCAC weekend tomorrow evening, returning home
for a conference doubleheader against Sewanee and Oglethorpe next
weekend.
