San Antonio - Trinity's women's basketball team swept the opening weekend of Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play with a 90-51 win over Millsaps College on Sunday afternoon.

Trinity (3-2, 2-0) led 46-27 at the half, using a 20-3 run to take control of the game.  After the teams played close in the opening minutes, the Tigers went on a 7-0 run to take a 23-14 lead.  Following a Millsaps three-pointer, Trinity then scored 13 unanswered points to make it 36-17 with just under four minutes left in the first period.

After scoring in the first minute of the second half, Trinity held a lead of at least 20 points for the rest of the game.

Meghan Scholbe and Krista Prato Matthews both scored 14 points to lead Trinity, and the pair also led the way with seven rebounds.  Interestingly enough, both players hit 6-10 field goals as well.  Scholbe added four steals and two blocks, while Prato Matthews recorded a game-high six blocks.

Jennifer Wieman added 13 points and six rebounds, hitting 5-10 shots and adding three assists.  Beth Hannon led the team with five assists, while Carlee Culver added four in 15 minutes off the bench.

Marianne Smith led Millsaps with 15 points, while Leslie Frese finished with 11 points and nine rebounds.  LaReina Adams led all players with 12 points, whiel Crystal Dickerson added 10.

Trinity shot 40.7% for the game, holding Millsaps to just 25.8% shooting - including 20.6% (7-34) in the second half.

Up next for the Tigers will be a Tuesday night game at home against Texas Lutheran.  The game will begin at 7:00 p.m., and feature both a webcast and live stats.
