The Tiger women's basketball team finished off the Trinity University
Thanksgiving Classic with a 98-51 win over the College of Notre Dame
(MD) on Sunday evening.
Trinity (4-1) led 48-23 at the
half, hitting better than 60% of its shots in the first period.
The Tigers shot over 50% for the entire game, holding Notre Dame under
30% shooting for the game - including 26.7% shooting in the first half.
Krista Prato Matthews and Meghan
Scholbe both earned All-Tournament honors, posting double-doubles in
today's victory.
Prato Matthews led the team with
24 points and 14 rebounds, as well as adding four blocks and a pair of
steals. She hit 10-12 from the field in just 23 minutes of action.
Scholbe posted 14 points and 11 boards, hitting 4-7 from the field and
6-8 from the foul line.
Tierney Hughes and Martha King
also finished in double figures, scoring 10 points each. King came
off the bench to add 10 points and eight rebounds on 5-7 shooting.
Danielle Hubenak scored eight points and handed out six assists for the
Tigers.
Sasha Matthew led Notre Dame
with 17 points, also earning All-Tournament honors. Matthew hit
6-10 from the field, adding four assists and three steals for the
Gators.
Trinity will open Southern
Collegiate Athletic Conference play next weekend, hosting Austin College
on Friday, and Colorado College on Sunday.
