Trinity's women's basketball team remained the lone unbeaten team in the
SCAC West Division with an 80-61 win over Hendrix College on Friday
night.
Trinity (8-2, 3-0) trailed 31-37
at the half, after Hendrix went on an 8-0 run late in the period.
Hendrix shot better than 50% from the field in the first half, while
Trinity hit just 12-32 (37.5%) of its shots. The second half was a
much different story for both teams, though, as the Tigers hit a
blistering 20-29 (69%) shots in the final 20 minutes. Hendrix was
held to just 31% shooting in the second half.
Krista Prato Matthews turned in
another dominating performance, posting her fifth double-double of the
season with 23 points and 11 rebounds. She hit 10-17 from the
floor and blocked five shots defensively.
Meghan Scholbe also scored 20
points for Trinity, hitting 7-11 from the field and 6-6 from the free
throw line. Scholbe also had seven rebounds and four steals for
the Tigers.
Danielle Hubenak narrowly missed
a double-double of her own, hitting 5-7 from the field for 11 points,
and handing out a team season-high eight assists.
Wyvonne Hawkins hit 7-13 from
the field for Hendrix, finishing with a team-high 19 points for the home
team. Samantha Clark and Christina Byler added 11 points each for
Hendrix, as did Chelsey White. Lindsay Merritt added a team-best
10 boards off the bench.
Trinity will face Millsaps
College tomorrow night in Jackson, Mississippi. Millsaps fell
42-64 to Southwestern at home tonight.
