Tigers Beat Millsaps to Finish SCAC Weekend Sweep

San Antonio - Trinity's women's basketball team capped a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference weekend sweep by defeating Millsaps College 90-60 on Sunday afternoon.

Trinity (17-5, 11-2) led 42-28 at the half, holding Millsaps to less than 30% shooting.  The Tigers hit 50% from the field in the second period, and forced 28 total turnovers in the game.

Millsaps never led in the game, as Trinity slowly pulled away to a 19-7 lead in the first nine minutes of the game, and led by as many as 19 in the first period.

The halftime margin was the closest Millsaps would get the rest of the game, and a 13-1 second half run by Trinity put the home team up by 28 points with just over 11 minutes remaining.

Krista Prato Matthews led the Tigers with her sixth 20-point game of the season, finishing with 22 points on 9-13 shooting.  Prato Matthews also collected six rebounds and a pair of blocked shots in 18 minutes of action.

Rachel Snyder hit a pair of three-pointers on her way to 13 points, as well as leading the team with eight assists and five steals.  The eight assists is a career high for the junior guard, while the five steals ties her career-best mark - which she set against Dallas last weekend.  Alexandra Blake chipped in with eight points and seven rebounds off the bench for the Tigers.

Seniors Tierney Hughes, Martha King, and Meghan Scholbe were all playing in their final regular season home game on Sunday.  Scholbe finished with seven points and a team-best nine rebounds, while Hughes added 12 points and three assists.  King finished with 10 points, seven boards, and a team-leading four blocked shots in the game.

Crystal Dickerson led three Millsaps players in double figures with 14 points, hitting 8-10 from the free throw line.  Tiffany Whitmore and LaReina Adams both posted double-doubles for the Majors.  Whitmore finished with 10 points and a game-high 12 rebounds, while Adams finished with 12 points and 10 boards.

Trinity will be back in action next weekend at Austin College and Colorado College.  The SCAC road weekend will wrap up the regular season schedule, leading into the SCAC Tournament the following weekend.
