Trinity Bested by DePauw Friday Night

Greencastle, Indiana - Trinity's women's basketball team, fresh off an upset win over fifth-ranked Oglethorpe University last Sunday, opened up a weekend of play in the SCAC with a 57-77 loss at No. 23 DePauw University on Friday night.

Trinity (13-5, 7-2) trailed 30-37 at the half, shooting just under 35% in the opening period.  Trinity's shooting percentage improved slightly in the second half, but the team missed all five three-point attempts and made just 10 field goals total.

After falling behind 6-0 to start the game, Trinity rallied with eight unanswered points to take a slight lead.  That lead would prove to be its last of the game, though, as DePauw quickly jumped back in front.

Ali Marzella and Danielle Hubenak led Trinity with 13 points each, while Abby Dietert added 12 points and four rebounds.  Marzella hit just 4-12 from the field, but did manage to knock down 3-6 from beyond the arc.

Alexandra Blake and Lindsay Hovland finished with nine rebounds each to lead the team.  Blake also chipped in with seven points, while Hovland added eight points and four blocked shots.

DePauw was led by 10 points and an outstanding 20 rebounds from Emily Marshall, while Cassie Pruzzin added a game-high 15 points to go with six assists and four steals.

Trinity will continue the weekend with a game against Centre College tomorrow night.  The Tigers return home next Tuesday, February 3, to take on the University of Dallas, then face Southwestern over the weekend.
