San Antonio -
Trinity's women's basketball team won its fourth straight game by
defeating Lehman College 99-85 at the Trip Sports San Antonio Shootout
on Saturday night.
Trinity (5-1) held a 51-48 lead
at the half, despite being outshot by Lehman in the opening period.
The visitors hit 19-32 (59.4%) from the field, while Trinity knocked
down 18-36 (50%) of its shots. The Tigers also hit 8-12
three-pointers and 7-7 from the foul line.
Lehman jumped out to an early
14-5 lead after just 4:32 in the game, but Trinity had an 11-0 run a few
minutes later to take a 27-23 lead with just under 10 minutes left in
Early in the second half, the
Tigers used a 7-0 run to turn a 58-53 lead into a 12-point advantage and
never trailed by less than 11 points the rest of the way.
Danielle Hubenak led Trinity
with her career-best game, scoring a career-best 29 points to go with a
career-high 11 rebounds. She hit 10-12 from the field and 7-8 from
three-point range. The seven three-pointers broke Trinity's single
First-year Abby Dietert scored
23 points on 8-13 shooting from the field and 7-7 from the line.
She also grabbed seven rebounds and dished out four assists.
Krista Prato Matthews scored another double-double for the Tigers,
grabbing 14 rebounds to go with 19 points.
Sally Nnamani led Lehman with a
game-high 31 points and 10 rebounds, hitting 12-24 from the field.
Whittney Barnes hit 8-16 from the field for 19 points.
Trinity will go on the road next
weekend to open up SCAC play at Colorado College and Austin College.
The Tigers return home on December 29 to open up the Trinity University
Texas Challenge Tournament.
