Tiger Women Down Rhodes to Open SCAC Tournament

Conway, Arkansas - Trinity's women's basketball team opened up the SCAC Championships Tournament with an 81-60 win over Rhodes College on Friday afternoon.

Trinity (19-7) led 33-24 at the half, then shot 50% from the field and hit 10-11 free throws in the second half to avenge a loss to Rhodes from earlier this season.

Krista Prato Matthews scored 19 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in the game, breaking a tie for Trinity's all-time career rebounding record.  Prato Matthews tied the record in her final regular season game, but broke it in the first minute of tonight's win.

Danielle Hubenak narrowly missed a triple-double, leading Trinity with 22 points and seven assists.  She also had eight rebounds and hit 5-5 from the foul line in the game.  Hubenak's seven assists give her 126 this year, which breaks the school record for a single season.

Abby Dietert finished with 12 points, five assists, and four steals, hitting 6-10 from the field.  Kelsey Goodell came off the bench to score 14 points in 23 minutes.

Jenilee Pate scored 12 points to lead Rhodes, while Cameron Whitaker grabbed six rebounds to go with 10 points in 29 minutes of play.

Trinity advances to the SCAC Semifinals with the win, facing off against 17th-ranked DePauw University tomorrow afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
