Trinity’s women’s soccer
team missed out on two games last weekend due to concerns about
Hurricane Ike’s impending arrival on the Texas coast.
The Tigers were scheduled to
play Claremont College and Hardin-Simmons University on back-to-back
nights, but the visiting teams – in conjunction with Trinity –
decided to cancel the trips to San Antonio.
Trinity will travel to
Rhodes and Hendrix this weekend to open conference play. Last year
in San Antonio, Trinity defeated Hendrix 6-0 and then beat Rhodes
3-2 in an overtime game. The last meeting in Conway ended up a 5-0
win for Trinity in 2006, while the Tigers won 3-1 over Rhodes the
last time the teams met in Memphis (2004 season).
Michelle Grambeau is one
assist away from tying for seventh on Trinity’s career assist list.
She has a chance to become Trinity’s fourth player to record 30 or
more assists in a career, needing five more to reach that milestone.
With a tie in the early part
of this season, Trinity’s women’s soccer team has now had at least
one tie in 12 of the last 18 years. Coach Lance Key has had a tie
in four of his five seasons with the team.
The Tigers have not lost an
overtime game since the 1999 season, holding a record of 15-0-12 in
extra-period games since a 2-1 overtime loss to Berry in the third
game of 1999.
The Tigers last lost an
overtime game in the third contest of the 1999 season, losing 2-1 to
Berry. Since then, Trinity is unbeaten in its last 27 overtime
games, holding a record of 15-0-12 during that span. In fact, in 48
overtime games since the 1991 season, Trinity has only lost seven
times. |
