And We're Back in Business: September 26-28

Once again we dominate 6-0 against Texas Lutheran on Friday night. Although we didn’t play our prettiest soccer, and we had difficulty connecting for most of the game, we did win by a substantial amount. I guess all that finishing practice paid off. Especially that day we practiced headers as we got two and a half goals from headers (Mine plus Danika Wright’s and then Kristina Chen’s was the half as it hit her shoulder). That is a pretty good percentage. And to comment on my header which happened because of Julia Zangiralomi’s awesome cross: Danika told me afterwards I needed to not look so surprised when I score…I’ll try and work on that Dan!

Also, props to Abby Loar for getting a pair of goals.  And definite congratulations to Ally Thrall (first-year left back) who got the game winner/first collegiate goal off a beautiful free kick!! And Lance said what again? “Kick the ball so that if she misses it, it will go in.”

It was good to be at home again, especially under the lights. We are picking it up playing-wise, but still have so much to improve on…thus we must come back from our wonderful weekend off and be ready to practice on Tuesday in preparation for another weekend of games at home.

Commenting on the weekend off: Thank you to Jordan and her relatives who hosted a bunch of us at their ranch! Burger’s, s’mores, photogenic horses, being in a hunting zone while people were hunting, rock skipping, stargazing and wild boar were only a few of our escapades…thankfully we all survived the wild boar (P.S. if you hear them don’t run ‘cause they can’t see in the dark!)

And I leave you as we prepare to win Conference (Rhodes lost to Sewanee…oh yes…we are back in business).
