Tigers Down Panthers in Double Overtime Sunday

Birmingham, Alabama - Trinity's women's soccer team pushed its record above .500 with a 2-1 double overtime victory over Birmingham-Southern College on Sunday afternoon.

Trinity (4-3-0, 1-0-0 SCAC) and Birmingham were tied 1-1 at halftime, and that score never changed through the second period.

The Tigers had the only two shots of the first overtime period, one of which was on goal, but the visitors were unable to convert.

In the second - and final - overtime, Jordan Azar helped Trinity avoid a draw with a goal in the 110th minute.  Michelle Grambeau and Julia Zangirolami assisted on the goal.

Brianna Young scored the game's opening goal in the 17th minute, but Birmingham answered just over three minutes later with a goal of its own.

Trinity will play a pair of non-conference road games at Schreiner and Texas Lutheran next weekend, and will return home on October 5 and October 7 against Hendrix and Rhodes to continue the conference schedule.
