Late Score Forces Trinity to Settle for Tie in SCAC Game

San Antonio - Trinity's women's soccer team gave up a goal late in the second period on Sunday afternoon, allowing Centre College to earn a 1-1 tie in double overtime.

Trinity (10-3-1, 5-0-1) had its eight-game winning streak snapped in the process, despite leading for over 50 minutes of the game.  The Tigers also out-shot Centre 24-9 in the game, and failed to score in overtime - despite six shots after the end of regulation.

Claire Edwards scored on her own rebounded shot that hit the cross bar in the 21st minute of the game.  The goal was the only one Trinity would manage, despite several open looks close to the net.

Centre tied the game at 73:26 with a header goal by Kate Anderson, assisted by Elizabeth Hooper.

Jennifer Fifield had four saves for Trinity, while Rosie McAuley finished with five saves for the Colonels.

Trinity travels to Oglethorpe and Sewanee next weekend, then will host Southwestern in the regular season finale on November 2.
