Trinity Edges Sewanee to Open SCAC Weekend

 

Sewanee, Tennessee - The Trinity women's soccer team edged the University of the South-Sewanee 1-0 to open up a weekend of play in the SCAC on Friday.

Trinity (11-3-1, 6-0-1) and Sewanee were locked in a scoreless tie through the first half of play, but the visitors got on the board in the 55th minute. 

Claire Edwards scored the eventual game-winner at 54:43, assisted by Michelle Grambeau's corner kick.  Jennifer Fifield recorded the shutout in goal for Trinity, making three saves against six total shots for Sewanee.

Trinity out-shot Sewanee 20-6 overall in the game, as well as holding an 11-3 edge in corner kicks. 

Trinity will face Oglethorpe on Sunday to finish off the road weekend in the SCAC.  The team returns home next weekend, hosting Southwestern in the regular season finale.
