| Jackson,
Mississippi
- Trinity's women's soccer team opened Southern Collegiate
Athletic Conference play with a 3-0 shutout win over Millsaps
College on Friday evening. Trinity (3-3,
1-0 SCAC) and Millsaps were locked in a scoreless tie at the half,
but the Tigers opened the scoring with a goal in the 64th minute.
The one goal would prove to be enough as
Jennifer Fifield and Alexandra Blake combined for the shutout in
goal. Fifield recorded one save, and the pair faced five total
shots in the game.
Jennifer Wray scored her fourth goal of the
year on an assist from Jordan Azar. It was the second
game-winning goal of the year for Wray.
Robyn Brooks scored the final two goals for
the Tigers, securing the win to begin defense of the team's SCAC
Championship. Brooks scored in the 71st and 85th minutes, and
the goals were the first of her career at Trinity after transferring
in last season.
Trinity travels to Birmingham, Alabama to take
on SCAC newcomer Birmingham-Southern College on Sunday afternoon.
Though Birmingham has joined the SCAC, the team is in transition
from Division I to Division III, and therefore, the games will not
count in the SCAC standings. |
