- Trinity's women's soccer team evened its season record with a
5-1 victory over the University of Texas-Dallas on Sunday afternoon.
Trinity (2-2-0) led 2-0 at the half, and led 5-0
before UT-Dallas was able to get on the board in the 79th minute of
play. The Tigers out-shot UT-Dallas 19-9 in the game.
Jennifer Fifield played just over 75 minutes
without allowing a goal, recording five saves to help the Tigers to
the win. Fifield also posted a shutout on Friday night.
Brianna Young scored the eventual game-winner
in the 24th minute, assisted by Jordan Azar. Jennifer Wray
scored for the third straight game - including the first goal each
of the past two games. Wray also had an assist on a corner
kick in the second half.
Azar finished with two goals and two assists
for the game, assisting on each of the first two goals, and then
adding a goal of her own in the 49th minute. She also capped
Trinity's scoring with a 63rd minute goal. She scored twice on
three shots, with the other shot being a ball that ricocheted off of
the cross bar to narrowly miss recording her first career hat trick.
Trinity will be off for the next week,
traveling to face defending national champs Wheaton (IL) College
next Monday (09/17) in Wheaton, Illinois. |
