Trinity Snaps Losing Streak With Shutout

San Antonio - The Tiger women's soccer team snapped its season-opening two-game losing streak with a 3-0 shutout victory over the University of Texas-Tyler on Friday night.

Trinity (1-2-0) had never started the season with two losses since before the 1991 season.  The Tigers took a 2-0 halftime lead after scoring a goal in the final seconds of the first half.

Robyn Brooks took a free kick in the waning seconds and lofted in front of the UT-Tyler net, and Chelsea Wilson was able to convert as time expired on the first period.

Jennifer Wray scored the eventual game-winner in the 23rd minute on an assist from Michelle Grambeau.  Wray also assisted on the third and final goal of the night - a header from Claire Edwards in the 73rd minute.

Jennifer Fifield recorded her first shutout of the young season, tallying three saves in the process, and improving her record to 1-2 this year.  Fifield and the Tiger defense yielded just four total shots in the game.

Trinity will face UT-Dallas on Sunday afternoon, finishing off a three-game homestand.  The Tigers travel to Wheaton (IL) College on Monday, September 17 to take on the defending NCAA Division III National Champions.
