Tigers Fall Short in Second Straight Comeback Bid

San Antonio - Trinity's women's soccer team was unable to erase a two-goal deficit for the second time in as many nights, falling to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire on Saturday night.

Trinity (1-1-0) fell behind quickly as the Blugolds scored in just the sixth minute of action, but Robyn Brooks connected with Brianna Young for the tying goal just a few minutes later.

With under five minutes left in the first half, Eau Claire reclaimed the lead for the 2-1 halftime advantage.

Neither team could manage a goal until late in the second half, which came in the 87th minute from the visitors.

Down two with almost no time left, Trinity had to scramble to try and tie the game.  Danika Wright pushed a header into the net on a corner kick from Michelle Grambeau to make it 3-2 with 1:43 remaining, but the Tigers could get no more.

For Grambeau, it was her third assist in two games to open the year.  Last season, she was second on the team with nine assists in 18 games.

The Tigers travel to northern Texas next weekend to take on UT-Tyler and UT-Dallas on Friday and Saturday night.  Trinity returns home on September 12, facing Claremont at 5:00 p.m., followed by a Saturday tilt with in-state rival Hardin-Simmons on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
