Apaches, ranked No. 3 in the JUCO poll, beat a tenacious Tiger team
6-3 Friday at Delavan Tennis Stadium.

started the match by sweeping all three doubles from Trinity, ranked
No. 17 in the NCAA Division III. But the Tigers and Apaches
split the singles competition.
Trinity
first-year player Katie Griffith, ranked No. 8 in the west Region,
took No. 2 singles with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Anna Zurek, who is
ranked eighth nationally in the JUCO poll. Sophomore Megan Jackson
won No. 4 singles, beating Casey Bulls 6-0, 6-4. No. 5 singles also
went to the Tigers, as senior Melissa Weinnig defeated Kelly
Rittenhouse 6-3, 6-3.
The Tigers
(3-6) will host the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in a Division
III match at 2 p.m. Saturday.
