Trinity Tigers women scored three second-half goals and shut out the
UT-Tyler Patriots 4-0 Friday night.
Trinity, which remained undefeated
at 3-0-0, now stands at 3-0-1 against UT-Tyler over the past four
seasons. The Tigers, who have not allowed a goal this season, hold a
record of 144-1-5 when scoring first in a game, since the 1999
campaign.
Tiger senior midfielder Brianna
Young put Trinity on the board with a solo goal, in the 42nd minute
of the game.
Sophomore forward Kelly Watts
scored in the 77th minute, with an assist from junior forward Jordan
Azar.
Two minutes later, in the 79th
minute, junior midfielder Danika Wright took a corner kick from
sophomore defender Allyson Thrall.
Sophomore forward Abigail Loar
scored the final goal of the game, in the 81st minute, as first-year
midfielder Samantha Atkins provided the assist.
Trinity first-year goalkeeper
Katie Garrett registered seven saves in the shutout. UT-Tyler senior
goalkeeper Sam Fraser had four saves.
The Tigers led 21-9 in shots,
and held an 8-7 in shots on goal. Trinity had 12 corner kicks, to
three for UT-Tyler, which dropped to 1-2-0.
Trinity will host UT-Dallas at 1
p.m. Sunday. |
