- Trinity's women's
soccer team remained undefeated with a 4-0 home victory over the
University of Texas-Dallas Comets Sunday afternoon.
Trinity (4-0-0), which scored all
four goals in the first half, registered its fourth straight shutout
of the season. UT-Dallas dropped to 0-3-2. Last year, Trinity won on
a double-overtime goal by sophomore forward Abigail Loar in the
102nd minute.
Loar has now scored in all of
the Tigers’ games during the season. She scored the second goal of
Sunday’s game, in the 10th minute, with an assist from senior
midfielder Brianna Young.
The first of three quick Tiger
goals came in the seventh minute from sophomore midfielder Allyson
Hunter, who fired in a solo shot. Following the goal by Loar, senior
forward Bekah Gabay received a corner kick from junior forward
Jordan Azar in the 12th minute. First-year midfielder Samantha
Atkins scored in the 32nd minute, with the corner kick assist from
senior midfielder Alex Leamy.
Tiger first-year goalkeeper
Katie Garrett had one save in the game. UT-Dallas freshman Katelyn
Flory was the starter, allowing three goals and one save in 11
minutes, 12 seconds of play. Junior Andrea Jones played the final
78:48 and allowed one goal, along with getting seven saves.
Trinity led 24-5 in shots and
held a 12-1 lead in shots on goal. The Tigers led the Comets 9-3 in
corner kicks.
The Tigers open their SCAC
campaign next Friday with Austin College in Sherman, Texas. Next
Sunday, Trinity plays at the University of Dallas in a
non-conference game. The Tigers return home Friday, Sept. 25, to
host Our Lady of the Lake University of San Antonio, at 8 p.m. |
