- Trinity Tiger senior
midfielder Brianna Young scored a solo goal in the 107th minute as
Trinity beat Austin College 2-1 in double-overtime Friday in an SCAC
game at Munson Stadium.
The game was moved from Sherman because of weather conditions.
Trinity, ranked as high as No. 6
in the NCAA Division III, remained undefeated at 5-0-0 and 1-0-0
SCAC.
The first goal of the game came
in the 64th minute from the Kangaroos Natalie Nelms. It marked the
first goal the Tigers have yielded this season.
Forty-three seconds later,
Trinity evened the game at 1-1 on a goal from sophomore forward
Kelly Watts. Sophomore midfielder Allyson Hunter provided the
assist.
Regulation expired, and then the
first overtime, followed by Young’s game-winner six minutes, 11
seconds into the second overtime.
First-year goalkeeper Katie
Garrett registered one save, and gave up her first goal of the
campaign.
Trinity outshot Austin College
22-4 and led 9-2 in shots on goal. The Tigers held a 7-2 advantage
in corner kicks.
The Tigers travel to Irving
Sunday for a non-conference tilt at noon with the University of
Dallas. |
