- The Trinity Tigers
remained undefeated with a 4-0 shutout of the University of Dallas
Lady Crusaders in a non-conference game Sunday afternoon.
Trinity, ranked as high as No. 6 in
the NCAA Division III polls, improved to 6-0-0 and recorded its
fifth shutout of the season. Last Friday, the Tigers opened their
SCAC campaign with a 2-1 double-overtime win over Austin College.
Senior midfielder Brianna Young
scored two goals on Sunday and added two assists. Young scored in
the 21st minute, assisted by junior defender Danika Wright, and made
a solo goal in the 81st minute. Young assisted sophomore forward
Abigail Loar in the 18th minute, and then provided the assist for
first-year midfielder Samantha Atkins in the 35th minute.
Young leads the team in points
with 12 (four goals, four assists) and Loar has 11 (five goals, one
assist).
First-year goalkeeper Katie
Garrett recorded her fifth shutout, and has allowed only one goal in
six games.
The Tigers overwhelmingly led
Dallas in shots, 34-0, and held a 16-0 advantage in shots on goal.
Trinity was awarded 12 corner kicks and the Lady Crusaders had none.
Trinity will host Our Lady of
the Lake University at 8 p.m. next Friday. |
