- The Trinity Tigers
women, ranked No. 5 in the nation, remained undefeated with a 2-1
win over the DePauw Tigers in a Southern Collegiate Athletic
Conference game Sunday afternoon.
Trinity now stands at 11-0-0 and is
4-0-0 in SCAC play. DePauw dropped to 5-6-4 and 3-2-2 SCAC.
The Trinity
Tigers had to break a 1-1 tie to clinch the victory. Sophomore
forward Abigail Loar scored the game-winner, in the 57th minute,
marking her seventh goal of the season. It also was Loar’s fourth
game-winning goal of the campaign.
Senior
midfielder Brianna Young put the Tigers on the board first, with a
goal in the ninth minute. Young scored her team-leading ninth goal
of the season.
Both goals
were assisted by junior forward Jordan Azar, who now has four
assists to her credit. Azar served a corner kick to Loar in the
game-winner.
DePauw evened
the score with an unassisted goal in the 54th minute by Alexandra
Ehr.
Trinity
first-year goalkeeper Katie Garrett recorded two saves, bringing her
season total to 24. Garrett and the Tigers have allowed only three
goals this season, in 11 games.
Trinity
continues its home SCAC campaign next Saturday by hosting
Southwestern at 6 p.m. |
