Tigers junior Katy Poettcker of Colleyville, Texas (Heritage), lost
in the singles consolation semifinals Friday at the Intercollegiate
Tennis Association National Small College Championships.
Lia Weiner
of Rochester beat Poettcker 6-2, 6-2 at Copeland-Cox Tennis Center.
Poettcker
will play for seventh place at 11 a.m. Saturday against top seed
Lorne McManigle of Emory.
Qualifiers
for the national tournament are ITA regional singles and doubles
champions. Poettcker won the Southwest Region singles title, beating
first-year teammate Thavindra Ekanayake, at Trinity earlier this
month. The Tiger tandem captured the regional doubles crown, and
were eliminated in Wednesday’s National Small College play-in round.
